It all starts with the men. Men are the head of the home and the church. Men are hard to get involved so the pastor will focus his attention on the women & children of the church. If you build your church around women and children you will get fast growth. If dad doesn't go to church, then when the boys get to be 11 or 12, they may stop going to church as well and start hanging out with their fathers or some other male friends. This will begin eroding the family and creating a gap in relationships.
If we can focus our attention on men and fathers, keeping them in the loop and calling them into action, the rest of the family will follow.
Now getting men involved is easier said than done. I remember as a "PK", preachers kid, I saw the struggles my father went through in keeping men involved. With plenty of BBQ's, bonfires and horse shoe competitions the men seemed to get involved more. I learned a lot from my father and from my own experience in developing groups like this as well as raising my own son and two daughters.
From Boys to Knights starts with the fathers, grandfathers and even mentors who are stepping in for the fatherless. Regardless, the first stop is a self-inventory. We are never going to be perfect, but any issues we struggle with will become a stumbling block as we lead our families. If our family doesn't respect us, we cannot lead them. Once our issues are in check, then we can begin to lead.
This program pairs well with Prepare and Enrich. By combining these 2 programs, the men will have the support and resources they need for becoming the leaders they were destined to be.
The short version: I will meet one on one for about 12 weeks, then we will have group meetings online for about 6 more weeks. Each session takes about 45 minutes. There will be homework and accountability, but in the end you will have your small group up and running. I will set up a follow up Q & A with the group or individuals as needed.
STEP ONE - Becoming a King!
This first step is for getting each man in shape to be a qualified leader to their families or as I like to phrase it Becoming a King. If the man doesn't have any major issues then this can usually be taken care of in about 12 weeks. For this step I like to work with each man by themselves. It's important that the men feel safe, so they can open up and reveal all their issues now and not have them blow up later when they are in the middle of leading. This process dives deep into their marriage and personal life. We will leave no stone unturned. Any addictions will be addressed and resolved. Any family matters will be addressed and resolved. You may not be perfect when we are finished but you will be able to walk the walk and have the tools you need to fix any future issues. In addition, I am always here for you if more sessions are needed later.
STEP TWO - From Boys to Knights
Once the men are ready, we can begin step two, Small Group training.
In this step I will teach you about the "From Boys to Knights" way of life. This is not a weekend badge of honor. No sir! This is, raising your son to become a real man. A man everyone can respect and follow. This boy of yours will become just like you one day and that is why Step One is so very important! This is a long journey you will take with your son(s). The recommended starting age for sons is around age 6 and this could go through college or when every your final ceremony is.
Whether you are a pastor looking to improve the quality of leaders under you or you are a man with a passion to start something new and exciting with your son(s), this program will instill pride in your whole family and pass on the greatest of legacies to your children.
Designed to work with group leaders to develop a quality program for your church or small group. It all starts with the men!
